What changed in reading apps in early November 2026?

A short dated note: what we re-checked on 3 November, what had moved, and what is new on this site.

We re-read Magic Bookmark's US App Store listing and website on 3 November 2026. Version 1.1.1 from 27 October is still the current version, the credit prices are unchanged, and the rating shows 4.8 out of 5 from 25 ratings, one more than on 27 October. The other apps' cards are as last refreshed on 2026-10-11. New on this site: seven reader guides, a How-to section and a Resources section.

What did we re-check?

On 3 November 2026 we re-read Magic Bookmark's US App Store listing, including its version history and in-app purchases, and magicbookmark.com. We check Magic Bookmark more often than the other apps because it is the youngest app we profile and has shipped updates every few weeks since August.

What had changed?

Very little, which is itself worth recording:

  • Version 1.1.1, released 27 October 2026, is still the current version. Its note still reads: "Now with audiobook support: get spoiler-free recaps for any book format."
  • The version history lists version 1.1 on 21 October and version 1.0.10 on 19 October.
  • In-app purchases are unchanged: 1 Bookmark credit $4.99, 5 for $19.99, 10 for $34.99 and 50 for $69.99. The website still says the first Bookmark Credit is free and that credits never expire.
  • The rating shows 4.8 out of 5 from 25 ratings, against 24 on 27 October. That is still a small number of ratings.
  • The website still says iOS first, with Android on the roadmap for later.

What has not changed elsewhere?

We did not re-read the other apps' pages this week, so their cards stay as last refreshed on 2026-10-11. The dated changes from earlier in the year still stand as recorded in the October note: Goodreads' Did Not Finish shelf from March, Literal's May changelog on sunsetting the current version of Clubs, the Kobo and StoryGraph sync from June, and Kindle's Recaps and Ask this Book.

What is new on this site?

What did we confirm on 4 November?

We re-read Magic Bookmark's listing and Apple's catalog data, Bookly's listing, and the pages for two recap features we now cover.

  • Magic Bookmark: 4.8 out of 5 from 25 ratings on the US App Store, still a small number of ratings. Apple's catalog dates audiobook support to version 1.1 on 21 October 2026 and the finish-a-book flow to version 1.0.10 on 19 October; version 1.1.1 on 27 October repeats the audiobook note. Our October note had placed both features one version later. The App Store still says your first credit is free, and magicbookmark.com now also advertises a two-week free trial, which it describes as unlimited books with no credit card.
  • Bookly: Apple's catalog lists its $79.99 Bookly Pro item as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Our price records now say so.
  • Google Play Books: Catch me up, part of Book insights, gives an overview of what you have read so far on select English-language ebooks, on Android, iOS and the web.
  • Spotify: audiobook Recaps, launched as a beta on iOS on 13 November 2025, cover only the part of a book you have already heard, for a limited selection of English-language titles.

What else is new on this site since 3 November?

A Research section with two study summaries, a reader guide for ADHD readers, and deeper versions of the audiobook listeners and privacy-minded readers guides, every habit lesson and every diary note.

What will we re-check next?

The items most likely to change before our next note:

  • Magic Bookmark's version, rating count and supported titles, since it updates every few weeks.
  • Literal's clubs, which its May 2026 changelog said it is sunsetting in their current form.
  • Kindle's Ask this Book, which Amazon said would expand from the Kindle iOS app to Kindle devices and the Android app.
  • Every price in the price index, as part of the next quarterly price study.

Each change goes on the relevant library card with its source and the date we read it, and into the next diary note.

How do we date changes?

We list a change only when the app's own page, store listing or a named source gives it a date, and we say when we read it. Every fact on our cards shows the date its source was read. If you spot something we missed, the contact page has a correction topic.
