How much does each reading tracker app cost?
Every price we have on record, in one ledger, with the date each source was read. The table updates whenever an app's card does.

Desk research from public app store listings, app websites and help pages, last refreshed on 2026-10-11. Fact profiles, not scores; we did not test the apps hands-on.

How should you read this table?
Each line is copied from the app's own App Store listing or website, with the source and the date we read it. US prices only; they differ by country and change over time. A line marked with an older read date has not been re-checked since then.
Which pricing model suits you?
- Free with no paid tier: nothing to decide. Goodreads is the example.
- Free core plus subscription: you pay only if a paid feature is the reason you use the app. Try the free version for a month first.
- One-time price: BookBuddy's Pro upgrade costs less than a year of most subscriptions, if you catalogue more than 50 books.
- Pay per book: Magic Bookmark charges one credit per book for its recaps, with the first book free and no subscription. A 10-credit pack works out at $3.50 a book and a 50-credit pack at $1.40.
The free reading trackers guide explains what each free tier covers.
How do yearly prices compare?
On the pages we read, the yearly options are StoryGraph Plus $49.99, Hardcover Supporter $49.99, Fable Plus $49.99, Basmo PRO $39.99, Bookly Yearly Pro $29.99, and Literal's Plus and Supporter memberships at $40 and $80. BookBuddy Pro is $9.99 once.
What does a year cost in each model?
A worked comparison for one reader who would use a paid tier all year:
| Model | Example | Cost over one year |
|---|---|---|
| Free, no paid tier | Goodreads | $0 |
| One-time upgrade | BookBuddy Pro | $9.99 once, then $0 |
| Yearly plan | Bookly Yearly Pro | $29.99 |
| Yearly plan | Basmo PRO | $39.99 |
| Yearly plan | StoryGraph Plus, Hardcover Supporter, Fable Plus | $49.99 each |
| Monthly plan for twelve months | StoryGraph Plus at $4.99 | $59.88 |
Pay-per-book recaps sit outside this table because they depend on how many books you read: Magic Bookmark's first book is free, then one credit per book from $4.99 singly down to $1.40 in a 50-credit pack.
What did the 4 November 2026 re-check find?
We re-read every tracker price in this ledger on 4 November 2026 for the Q4 2026 price study summary. Every price matched. One wording changed: Bookly's $79.99 Bookly Pro item is listed in Apple's catalog as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, so the ledger now says one-time. Bookly's subscriptions are unchanged at $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with a six-month plan at $19.99 and a family plan at $9.99 a month also listed.
What do these prices leave out?
The ledger lists the main published price for each tier. A few things change what you actually pay:
- **Tax.** US App Store prices are shown before sales tax.
- **Country.** Prices differ by country; this ledger is the US App Store and the apps' own US pages.
- **Trials.** Basmo's PRO starts with a free 7-day trial. A trial that converts to a paid plan is still a subscription.
- **Family and discounted plans.** Bookly's listing also shows a $9.99 Monthly Pro Family Plan and discounted yearly offers.
- **Where you pay.** A plan bought on the web can cost a different amount from the same plan bought inside the iPhone app.
How do you avoid paying for a tracker you stopped using?
Set a calendar reminder a few days before any trial or yearly plan renews, and decide then. On an iPhone, App Store subscriptions are listed under Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, where you can cancel. Cancelling usually leaves the paid features on until the end of the period you paid for. If you subscribed on the app's website instead, cancel there.
How often is this updated?
Every time an app's card changes, because the table is built from the same data. Every app was last refreshed in full on 2026-10-11; Magic Bookmark was re-checked on 3 November 2026. The method page explains where the facts come from.
